In 2015, Gary retired and moved to Aptos with Kathleen to enjoy the easy-going beach lifestyle.

He spent many years watching his children and grandchildren play baseball, basketball, softball, water polo, and swimming. He was an avid SF Giants, 49ers, and Golden State Warriors fan.
