Friends and family will gather on Monday, October 23rd, to say farewell to loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and devoted friend, Gertie Saccullo who passed away Sunday at her home with her family at her bedside. Born in San Jose, she was 84 years old. Gertie was raised in Morgan Hill and was married on her family's ranch there in 1953 to her lifelong love, Dominick Saccullo. The couple moved to Santa Cruz in 1961 where Gertie worked side by side with her husband as the bookkeeper of the many grocery stores this loving duo opened. In 1976, Gertie and Dominick opened Dominick's Fish and Poultry Company. Her career spanned over 60 years in the grocery and wholesale food industry.

Gertie was very civic minded and served as past president of Rotary's Inner Wheel, and was a member of Omega Nu. A highlight of her business career was attending a meeting in Washington D.C. of the National Federation of Independent Businessman's Association where she was invited by then First Lady Pat Nixon to a tea held at the White House Rose Garden. Gertie and Dominick loved to travel with friends and did so whenever they could. Exotic destinations included many areas of Europe, the South Pacific, China, Japan, Thailand along with many cruises throughout the world

Gertie's busy business schedule never took precedence over the raising of her children. She was a devoted fan at their athletic events, and was always there for scholastic endeavors and projects. Gertie's grandchildren were of paramount importance in life, and her family will continue to share many fond memories of spending holidays together, her amazing culinary talents, and love she spread amongst her entire family.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Dominick Saccullo of Santa Cruz, her daughter and son-in-law Sallie and Tracy Molfino of Pacific Grove, her son and daughter-in-law, David and Shannon Saccullo of San Juan Capistrano, her sister Marian Kirby of Sonoma; her beloved grandchildren; Davie Saccullo, Connor Saccullo, Tim Molfino, Emily Molfino, Katherine Silveira, Judy Molfino, and three great grandchildren; Tucker Silveira, Weston Silveira, and Ada Molfino- Cuffe.
