Lena Locatelli Silva

April 6, 1924 – December 19, 2017

Life Long Santa Cruz Resident

Recitation of the Holy Rosary and a Mass of Christian Burial will be on January 8th and 9th in Santa Cruz for Lena Silva who passed away at Dominican Hospital at the age of 93. A native of Santa Cruz, she lived her entire life here. She attended local schools and will be remembered as a hard worker who dedicated herself to her family as well as numerous charitable organizations including The Italian Catholic Federation, the Young Ladies Institute # 95, and Los Banos Druids. Lena cherished the many lifelong friendships that were kindled through her volunteering efforts; truly enjoying the work and staying involved.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law John Silva Jr. and Karen Silva, her sister, Virginia Bertoli, and sister-in-law, Mary Locatelli, along with 15 grandchildren. Lena was preceded in death by her sons Ernest Silva and Louis Silva, and granddaughters; Debbie Silva and Leanne Beams.

A recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at Benito and Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel on Monday evening January 8, 2018 beginning at 6 p.m. The mass will be celebrated on Tuesday January 9th at Holy Cross Catholic Church (126 High Street) in Santa Cruz, beginning at 10:30 a.m. A private committal will take place at a later date at Smartsville Catholic Cemetery in Yuba County. Lena's life was blessed in her final years with the loving care that was provided by Anna Marie Locatelli, Caroline Moulton, Heidi Morgan, Gloria Saffery, and her caregiver Rosemary Sousa. Her family extends their heartfelt appreciation for all of their help.
