Obituary of Azin Jones

Azin Dehi Jones Services will be held on Friday, March 4, in Aptos for Azin Jones, who passed away unexpectedly on February 22, 2011. Born in Tehran, Iran, she was 41 years old. Azin was raised in Campbell, California, where she graduated from Leigh High School. She attended UCSC in the early 1990's and earned her bachelor's degree in Biology and Economics. An accomplished traveler, she visited Fiji, New Zealand, Australia, Germany, Italy, and France. Azin was philanthropic and globally active, giving both her time and her resources to several causes. She enjoyed volunteering at the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, DC, and she followed a calling to go on a missionary trip to Zimbabwe, where she and her colleagues comforted and cared for children infected with HIV. She has been a resident of Santa Cruz County for the past 12 years, was a member of Twin Lakes Church, and periodically volunteered at the Pregnancy Resource Center. Her family will forever remember her love for people and animals, her hospitality, her generosity, and her passion for photographing life's treasures. She is survived by her husband, Walter C. Jones, III, of Capitola, her mother Sara Saeedi of Campbell, California, and her father, Esmail Dehi of Virginia. Azin also leaves her sisters, Ana Sani of Santa Clara, and Alexa Santos of Providence, Rhode Island. The funeral ceremony will be held on Friday, March 4, 2011, at Twin Lakes Church (2701 Cabrillo College Drive, Aptos CA 95003) beginning at 4:30 p.m. Committal services will be private. The family asks that any kind acts of charity in her memory be made to Global Strategies for HIV Prevention (online: www.globalstrategies.org/honorsomeone.html; by mail: 104 Dominican Drive, San Rafael, CA 94901) and to Pregnancy Resource Center of Santa Cruz (online: www.egivingsystems.org/45305/; by mail: 1570 Soquel Drive, Suite 4, Santa Cruz, CA 95065).
