Obituary of James S Laznicka

James S. Laznicka James Laznicka passed away suddenly in Santa Cruz, CA, on May 2, 2010, of heart disease. It was his birthday and he was 82 years old. He was a native of Racine, WI, born on May 2, 1928. Starting in 1966, Jim worked for Prime Leather Finishes in Milwaukee, WI, and was in sales for 21 years, servicing the West Coast. His largest account was Salz Tannery in Santa Cruz, CA. In 1971 Jim moved to Santa Cruz and made it his home. Jim retired from Prime Leather Finishes in 1987 and Santa Cruz became his permanent home. He liked to fish, sail and garden. For many years he had a sailboat at the Santa Cruz Harbor. He was a member of the Santa Cruz Elks Club for 33 years. He is survived by Lisa Laznicka, his wife of 37 years, his step-daughter, Karen Gray and her husband, Lee of Essex Junction, VT, his step-son, Robert Jacobs and his wife Veronica, of Fox Lake, IL. Beloved grandfather to; StarLynn Jacobs of Berlin, Germany, USMC Capt. Jacob Gray and his wife, Alanna of Woodbridge, VA., USMC Capt. Sam Gray and his wife, Amanda of Woddbridge, VA., Jordan Gray of Palo Alto, CA. Brother-in-law Jerry Mitchell and his wife, Betty of Oceanside, CA. he also leaves several nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Marie Laznicka; brothers, Charles Laznicka, Edward Laznicka and his wife, Bernice, Frank Greiner and his wife, Christina; sisters, Marie Smigun and her husband, Theodore, Millie Brown and her husband Clarence, Helen Samarzea and her husband, Nick, Olga Bonn and her husband Ray. At Jim's request, there will be no service. His body will be cremated and his ashes scattered at sea.
