Obituary of Ysmael H. Ramones

February 8, 1959 – February 23, 2018

Resident of Santa Cruz

A recitation of the Holy Rosary and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday and Saturday for a loving husband and father, Ysmael Ramones who passed away at Dominican Hospital this past week. Born in Laoag City, Philippines, he was 59 years old. Ysmael earned his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Northwestern University in the Philippines, and moved to the Santa Cruz area with his young family 23 years ago. He had a career in the computer industry for more than 25 years, and at the time of his passing, worked as a fabrication technician with Noel Technologies in Campbell.

Many fond memories will be cherished by his family for his love of photography and his talents at cooking wonderful authentic Filipino dishes for his friends and loved ones.

Ysmael's favorite subjects to photograph was his family, and countless pictures of family gatherings and holidays are special moments in time for those who will miss him so very much. He enjoyed watching all types of sports, and tinker with computers and other gadgets in his spare time.

He is survived by his loving wife, Paulina Ramones, his son, Mitchell Ramones and his daughter Maelin Ramones, all of Santa Cruz.

He also leaves his sister, Lorna and his brothers Armand, Samuel, Alex, and Medel Ramones of the Philippines, Texas, Canada, and Egypt. As well as his cousin Marichie of Las Vegas.

Friends may pay their respects at a viewing on Friday March 2, 2018 at Benito and Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. The recitation of the rosary will begin at 6 p.m. that evening. Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Catholic Church (435 Monterey Ave.) in Capitola on Saturday March 3rd, beginning at 10:30 a.m. and the Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Santa Cruz. The reception will follow at Veterans of Foreign War Post 7263 (2259 7th Ave.)
