Obituary of Sydney Osenga

Sydney Osenga, a beloved Mount Hermon resident passed away on February 19, 2011. Sydney was born to New Jersey natives William Osenga, and Ida Faber on October 30, 1916 in Midland Park, New Jersey. In his younger years Sydney served his country in World War Two, in the U.S. Army. Moving to Santa Cruz County in 1963 he resided in Mount Hermon, and worked as a painter for the Christian Conference Center. His career there spanned over 25 years and, was proud to be one of the longest tenured employees of Mount Hermon. Sydney was adored by many of the Mount Hermon residents, in fact it was hard for him to go anywhere without someone wanting to shake his hand and say Hello. Sydney and his loving wife of 41 years Marion had four children, Bob Osenga of Colorado, Dave Osenga of Boulder Creek, and Sharon Osenga of Nebraska. Marion preceded him in death along with their daughter Pat; he is also preceded by his second wife Millie. Sydney also leaves numerous loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as many admiring friends. A Memorial Service will be held for Sydney at Mount Hermon Christian Conference Center 37 Conference Drive, Mount Hermon, CA 95041 in the Youth Memorial Building on Sunday February 27, 2011 at 4:00 pm. Remembrances or donations may be made in Sydney's name to the Mount Hermon Campership Fund.
