Coral Singer

Obituary of Coral Marie Singer

Coral passed away peacefully in her Santa Cruz home where she raised her five children. She was 95. She was born in Herman, MN, the second of six children to William Suess and Minnie (Bruns) Suess. Coral was a resident of Santa Cruz for 74 years. Coral proudly told stories of working as a young woman with her father in the logging and agricultural industries. In Santa Cruz, she worked for many years at both Bronson Street and John Ingalls Canneries. Coral avidly crocheted, sewed, and worked on arts and crafts. She loved boating and fishing. She and her husband Dan Singer, traveled throughout both Asia and Australia, and camped across the U.S. After retirement, Dan and Coral were docents and volunteers at Lake San Antonio. Coral's favorite activities were lawn bowling, where she was a member of the Santa Cruz Lawn Bowling Club, and took up country western line dancing. Coral was devoted to her family and loved them unconditionally. She is survived by her five children: Doyle Singer, Dan Singer, Larry (Connie) Singer, Loretta Cattaneo, and Mike Singer. Other survivors are her last living sister, Lucille Rhodes (Ron); 8 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Coral was preceded in death by her spouse of 52 years, Daniel F. Singer; her grandson, John Singer; and four siblings. Coral was loved by her family and will be dearly missed. Her family appreciated the wonderful care provided by Hospice the last months of her life. No services are planned. Contributions may be made to Hospice of Santa Cruz (940 Disc Dr, Scotts Valley, CA 95066).
