Obituary of John Louis Mazzei

John L. Mazzei Services will be held on Friday and Saturday for John Mazzei who died at his Santa Cruz home on June 20, 2010 from heart failure. He was 53 years old. John was born in Fresno and moved to Santa Cruz at the age of 7. He attended Santa Cruz High School and Cabrillo College. He was the owner of All Night Auto Repair in Santa Cruz and his career in automobiles spanned over 25 years. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and when younger, competed in dirt bike racing. John also rode his Harley Davidson, volunteering in numerous toy drives and food runs during the holidays. He liked to fish in both fresh water and the ocean, and leaves many dear friends, fellow riders and colleagues who will miss his him very much. His family will forever remember his love for animals, especially his dogs that were the source of John's playfulness and generous heart. He is survived by his mother, Colleen Del Carlo of Soquel, his father, Louis Mazzei of Clovis, CA., his brother and sister in law, Shawn and Jennifer Del Carlo of Capitola; step brothers: Patrick and Lawrence Del Carlo both of Santa Cruz. He also leaves his nieces and nephew, Aaron, Melanie, and Sandra Del Carlo, and Crystal Mazzei, along with many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. John was preceded in death by his sister Maria Rochelle Mazzei in 1965, and his brother, Henry Mazzei in 1996. A vigil will be held on Friday evening June 25, 2010, at Benito and Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel in Santa Cruz beginning at 7 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Catholic Church (435 Monterey Ave. Capitola on Saturday, June 26, 2010, beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Soquel Cemetery
