Obituary of Edward John Nicholson

Ted went off to ride the perfect wave on January 16th, 2018.  He was 94 years old.

Ted was born in Los Angeles, and started surfing in 1939, when he was 16 years old.  He was still surfing when he was in his 90's.  In 1943 he joined the US Naval Reserve, where he was stationed in the Philippines during WWII.  When he got back to California, he enrolled at UCLA and graduated in 1946.  On August 12, 1949 he married Margaret Joan Dickerson.  They had been married for 50 years at the time of her death in 1999.  After Joan's death, Ted fell in love with tango!  The dance and the music became his next adventure, buying and selling bandoneons, and he was very close to the Santa Cruz tango community.

He is survived by his life partner, Rosalie Pizzo-Strain, his children Laurel Marshall (Rob), and Katy Peterson (Dan), and grandchildren Serenity Marshall and David Marshall.

As per Ted's wishes, no services will be held.
