Obituary of Stephen Winters

Stephen Reynolds Winters, 65, of Scotts Valley, succumbed to cancer at home surrounded by his family on May 26, 2018.

Steve spent the last 30 years working in the Software Technology industry as an Engineering Executive for various companies including Apple Computer, Cadence Systems, Ariba and most recently NetBase Solutions for 10 years. During the past year he started a coaching practice, working with young Engineering Leaders.

A resident of Scotts Valley for 20 years, he loved spending time on the ocean. Steve enjoyed kayaking on Monterey Bay with his wife and children, walking on West Cliff, and spending time at the beach with his grandchildren.

 

Recently, he made yearly trips to Hawaii, where he especially loved snorkeling and running on the beach. Rarely was he seen without a Hawaiian shirt.

A celebration of his life was held on June 2, 2018. He will be deeply missed by family, friends, and his work colleagues.        

Steve is survived by his wife, Deidre of 42 years, sons, Aaron (Nadia) Winters, and David Winters, daughter Amanda (Mike) Galtress, sisters Susan Winters and Nancy Mullins, grandchildren Zachary and Layla Winters, Matthew and Emma Galtress, nephew Terran Brown. He was preceded in death by his son Jason Winters and his parents Jane and Reynolds Winters.

Memorial Donations can be made in Stephen’s name to the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
