Wallace Wilson

Obituary of Wallace Wayne Wilson

Wally passed away on July 26 at Sunshine Villa in Santa Cruz just one month shy of his 91st birthday.  A service for him will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Aptos (125 Canterbury Dr.) on August 25 at 11 a.m.  We will celebrate his liberation from Alzheimer’s Disease with hymns from his childhood.

Wally was born to Louis and Mary (Newcomer) Wilson in Merced, Ca. Wally lived a full life with many blessings.  He graduated from UC Berkeley. He served in the Navy during the Korean conflict, where he was lucky enough to spend his time traveling around the Mediterranean Sea.  He enjoyed a long career with Del Monte Corporation where he rose up through the ranks and retired as an influential leader in labor relations legislative affairs.  He loved fishing and he loved music.

He leaves behind two sons, Grant and Neil (Jane) Wilson and two granddaughters, Andrea and Sarah.  He also leaves his wife, Vicky Wilson, and her children and grandchildren. His two sisters, Eileen and Mary Lou,  will miss him.

His family thanks Sunshine Villa for the superb care and love they gave to Wally.  We call his caregivers the saints of Sunshine.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to St. John’s Episcopal Church, which was Wally’s church home for over 35 years, or to Alzheimer’s research.
