Richard Aldo Fontana

January 6, 1943 – August 20, 2018

Services will be held at Santa Cruz Bible Church at 10AM on September 8, 2018 for Richard Fontana who passed away at UC San Francisco Medical Center August 20^th.  A native of San Francisco, he was 75 years old. Mr. Fontana’s family owned Parisian Bakery in San Francisco and at a very early age he rode on the delivery trucks and eventually managed his family business. 

He moved to the Santa Cruz area 42 years ago, and with his father, Aldo, owned and operated Ledyard food service until his retirement in 2011.  His career in the restaurant and food industry spanned over 60 years.

He will forever be remembered as a devoted father and friend, whose door was always open to those in need of support. Many fond memories will continue to be cherished of his construction of a batting cage in their backyard for his sons and their teammates, and his passion for all competitive sports. Affectionately know as "The Godfather" to his son’s, their children, and friends, he loved the time he was able to spend with them all. He treated everyone close to him like family. 

A true San Franciscan in every sense of the word, Mr. Fontana was a season ticket holder for both the Giants and 49ers since the 1950's. He was a member of Pasatiempo Golf Club and treasured the lifelong friendships made there. 

He is survived by his two sons, Taylor and Ryan Fontana, his four beautiful grandchildren: Madison, Landon, Vivianna, and Scarlet. Mr. Fontana also leaves his sister Joan Rebotarro, two nieces, two nephews, and a host of loving extended family and life-long friends.
