Obituary of Peggy Keech

45 Year Resident of Santa Cruz

A private committal will take place in Huron, Ohio for Margaret Keech who passed away at the age of  94 at her Santa Cruz home.  Affectionately known to all as “Peggy”, she was born in Cleveland and attended college at Ohio Wesleyan University and in 1944,  and met her first husband at Kenyon College and was married there in 1945. Her daughter Karen was born in Cairo, Egypt. And her son, Bill was born in Lakewood, Ohio. Peggy later traveled to Bangkok and Tabriz, Iran.   In 1952, following her divorce she lived with her family in East Cleveland until 1958, when she married Dart Keech.

The couple honeymooned in California and decided to stay, making their home in Cupertino. Peggy had an affinity for all animals, and in 1973, she and Dart bought their home and ranch in the Santa Cruz Mountains where Peggy has resided ever since. Among all the farm animals on the ranch, Peggy was an expert on the spinning wheel. From carding and combing the goat's hair, washing, dying, and spinning fibers into materials, Peggy taught classes on spinning wheel techniques and was well known in the arts and crafts community. She was an avid gardner and very proud of her orchards and flowers that she enjoyed cultivating.  Her family will forever cherish the many memories of her love for the beauty in all living things.

Peggy volunteered her time as a docent for the Arboretum for 25 years, and always remarked on the blessings she has received in living a full and wonderful life.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, William and Sunnie Keech, and their children Rachele and Caleb Keech of Santa Cruz, and her daughter Karen Keech, and her son, Evan Keech.

She will be laid to rest in a private ceremony beside her late husband Dart, at Scott Cemetery in Huron, Ohio.
