Obituary of Richard Arthur Rose

Richard (Dick) passed away peacefully from natural causes on December 19, 2018.  He was preceded in death by his loving wife Jeannine with whom he shared 60 wonderful years.  We were so blessed to have such amazing parents and to have shared many great memories of family gatherings. They passed on to all of their children skills and qualities that created a likelihood to succeed in life and the gift of a close family.  The legacy of our parents amazing life together will keep our family strong and close.  Dick was born in New Hartford, Iowa to Earl Arthur Rose and Margaret Katherine Fliss.  He was a carpenter by trade and proudly served his country as a Navy Seabee during the Korean War.  He brought his family to California in 1959.  Here he made a lifelong career in the building industry and established Rose and Sons Construction, employing his 4 sons.  Dick’s passion for sports lead him to become a basketball referee and to 25 years as a college football referee.  Dick is survived by his children Rob, Dan and his wife Avis, Tim and his wife Millou, Pat and his wife Evette, Jill and her husband Don.  He is also survived by his brothers, Don, Bill and Pete.  His sister Jean preceded him in death.  His numerous Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren filled his life with joy. We were fortunate to celebrate his 90^th birthday together in July 2018. A family ceremony and burial at sea will be shared together as he had wished. The family gratefully thanks his many dear friends and acquaintances for their kind thoughts and prayers.  A special thanks to the medical staff and caregivers for their sincere, compassionate and professional treatment of our father.
