Obituary of Mavis Boyd Drake

Mavis Kershaw Boyd Drake Sunrise January 27, 1935 Sunset January 12, 2021. Mavis was born in Richmond, Virginia Only Daughter of Lolita Dolores Kershaw Crabb (Boyd) Silent Moving Pictures Actress And Musician And James Aubrey Fair Boyd Author Writter Graduate Of The University Of Glasgow Scotland. He Served in The First World War After The War Continued To Write And Taught At The University Of California Berkeley.

 

She is Sister Of Aubrey Peter Boyd And John Graham Boyd Fighter Pilot Who Gave His Life Served With Valor Honor In World War II.

 

Mavis Performed On Radio From A Very Young Age And Continued Music Stage Modeling And Performing. Mavis Was in The Graduating Class Of Los Angeles Seinor High School 1952 Which She Truly Honored And Loved The Reunions. She Attended College at MPC Monterey Pennisula College and Was A part Of the Young Women’s League That Hosted Galla for First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt. She Attended First College Cowell At University Of California Santa Cruz And With Honors Cabrillo College.

 

Her Dear Mother Proceeded Her Days before Her Wedding. Mavis Married Stanley Drake At 19 After Graduating From MPC Moved From Pacific Grove To Santa Cruz. Mavis's Grandmother Helena Antoinette Had Her Apple Orchards And General Store In Wastonville, Ca .Her Mother And Family Are Rooted In The Bay And Central Coast And Each One Held A Special Love In Their Heart For The Natural Beauty And Made it Their Home.

 

Mavis Is From A Lineage Of Strong True Hearted Women It Is A Part Of The Foundation Of What Made Her Who She Is .Mavis Gave Her Life To Service Faith Family Community The Greater Good. She Shinned Her Light and Made All Our Lives Better For It. 

 

Mavis is God Daughter of Mrs. Moran and Mr. Moran Who Were Lifetime Parishioners of Our Lady Star of the Sea Church Santa Cruz. The Morans Are Strong In The Community And Mavis Made Them Proud As She Is Devote And True And Displayed Divine Grace. Mavis Made A Legacy At Our Lady Star Of The Sea Reaching All Over The County And The World. 

 

She Was Truly Passionate Preservered With Great Compassion Understanding Especially For Those Struggling In Need. She Worked With So Many Organizations And Individuals Throughout Her Life Bringing Up Her Family Here In Santa Cruz. The Co - Existence of Love and Peace with One Another. Know The Divine In Everyone No Matter Our Differences.

 

 The Great Blessing Grace So Selflessly Gave Of Her Self And Led Others To Know You. She Shinned Her Light And Touched Many Far And Wide. Lifting Her Voice To REJOICE In You And Uplift Nuture And Heal A True Divine Gift.

 

 In 1987 Mavis Preformed 1st Soprano for Pope John Paul II Mass At Laguna Secca Monterey, Ca. 

Mavis Cantored Clergy And Was A LifeTime Parishioner At Our Lady Star Of The Sea Santa Cruz, Ca.She Was Appointed By Sister Barbara To Sing In Italy. A Musican Teacher Activist Civil Rights Humantarian and Supporter Ally LBGT Eviromentalist Wild Life Animals.

She Was Of Civil Service Worked For Senator Henry Mello. St. Mary’s Watsonville, Ca. Catholic Charities The Arch Diocese Of Monterey, County Of Santa Cruz, Santa Cruz City School District, Pajaro Valley Unified School District , Santa Cruz County Office Of Education, Cabrillo College.
