Obituary of Lois Mount Voss

Lifelong Resident of Santa Cruz

Lois Mount Voss, 92, passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 24, 2021 after a long battle with COPD. She stayed at home with constant family care and support from Hospice.

Lois was born in Soquel, California on July 1, 1928 to Leslie and Paula Mount.  She attended local schools and graduated from Santa Cruz High School.  She worked for Wrigley’s Gum Factory but spent most of her life as a homemaker.  Other hobbies she enjoyed were gardening, walking on the beach, combing the gravel piles after a storm, and enjoyed entertaining friends and family during special events and holidays. She was an avid golfer and played in the womens golf club, the Nifty-Niners, at DeLaveaga where she once got a hole-in-one.  She was a past member of the Lucky Steppers Square Dance Club of Santa Cruz where she made lifelong friends. She also played tennis and loved sailing. She and her husband Ray loved RVing and spent years exploring America and Mexico.

Lois leaves behind six children and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren and many nephews and nieces: daughter Donna Parent of Redwood Valley, her sons Robert (Josette) Winkler and Joseph (Sherry) Surwald both of Watsonville, daughter Elaine Winkler of Prunedale,  Step-daughters Christina (Bob) Leffler of Santa Cruz, and Patricia (Chris) Hall of Soquel. She is also survived by her brother Leslie (Joan) Mount of Oregon. She is preceded in death by husband Ray Voss, husband Ernest Surwald, husband Donald Winkler, son Michael Surwald, and step-son Dennis Voss.

A celebration of life will be planned after pandemic measures have lifted.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Hospice of Santa Cruz County, 940 Disc Dr., Scotts Valley, CA  95066.
