Obituary of Gail Ann Hill

"Gaily Bird" Hill Our beloved "Gaily Bird" passed away peacefully December 13th at her home in Ben Lomond surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was born to Madge and Ed Miller October 31, 1936 in Berkeley, California. Later her family moved to their summer cabin in Boulder Creek where she met and married Ed Hill, her husband of 56 years. Gail was a devoted wife and mother. Family was everything to her. She loved them so much. She kept them all together and strong. Gail loved life and with her personality and bright smile brought happiness wherever she went. She loved to entertain and with her husband Ed threw some of the best parties in town. Over the years she worked at SLV High School, Ben Lomond Market, Big Basin Gift Shop and Coffee 9. She was also very active in the Ben Lomond Fire Department's Ladies Auxiliary. She was kind and thoughtful and was always ready to help wherever needed. Gail enjoyed gambling and playing any kind of card games and having a cocktail in the evening with Ed. Staying in her motorhome at Seacliff Beach was her favorite place to relax. She took many family trips to hunt and fish at Eagle Lake and also enjoyed spending time in Yosemite and Colorado. She is survived by her husband Ed of 56 years; brother, Don Miller; her children, Sherry Martinez and her husband Gus, Jeff Hill and his wife Lisa and Steve Hill. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Travis, Luke, Clinton and Bradley Hill, Nick and Katie Martinez and great granddaughter, Kaliyah Martinez and many nieces, nephews and dear friends to many to mention. Services and a celebration of her life will be held at St. Michaels Church, 13005 Pine St., Boulder Creek, CA on Saturday December 18, 2010 at 1:00 pm. A private interment will follow in Felton Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Benito & Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel.
