Obituary of Billy Clifford Dick

Santa Cruz, Ca. Bill C. Dick passed into eternal life in the early morning on January 13, 2011 at the age of 88, at Driftwood Health Care Center, where he had been a resident for 2 months. Bill was born August 29, 1922 in Iowa Falls, Iowa, where he attended Iowa Falls College, where he studied agriculture. Bill served in the Army during WWII for 3 years, serving as Staff SGT, where he also met his future wife Dorothy Miller. Upon their discharge in 1946 Bill & Dorothy returned to Los Angeles where they were married... Bill and Dorothy moved their family to Saratoga, CA., and Bill took a position with R Cali & Bros. in Cupertino, and then later with FeedStuffs in San Francisco. In 1967 Bill and Dorothy purchased Carmel Valley Poultry in Carmel, CA. Bill had 25,000 chickens on their 10 acre ranch, and each morning for more than 28 years, he would deliver eggs to many of the hotels and restaurants in the Carmel, Monterey area. Bill loved being a farmer, and always said he had the best job in the world. After they closed the egg ranch, Bill and Dorothy traveled to Scotland, New Zealand and England and several cruises to Alaska. He also volunteered at the Carmel Cancer Thrift Shop, where on most weekends he would drive his truck to pick up articles for the shop. Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years Dorothy, and his daughter Barbara J. (Bill McWood) 2008. He is survived by his daughters, Holly (Daryl) Biancucci of Scotts Valley, Ca., Melinda (Mike) Boren of Rogue River OR., grandchildren, Kyle, Lauren, Matthew, Jennilee and Billy, and great grand children, Kendal, Rocky and Jax, The family would like to thank Hospice of Santa Cruz County the exceptional loving care of our father. We will always be thankful to all who took care of him. Our Dad was treated with kindness and dignity by those who cared for him. May you rest in peace Dad.
