Obituary of Ruth Bryant Breizy

Ruth Bryant Breizy Services will be held on Saturday April 30, 2011 for Ruth Bryant Breizy who passed away on April 3, 2011 in Santa Cruz, CA, she was 83. Ruth was born in Marion County, Georgia, the second child and oldest daughter of ten children. Ruth graduated from high school in 1944 and began working for Southern Bell Tel. Co. where she worked her way up to manager. She married Archie Gordon in 1946 and had three boys. In 1978, she transferred to Pac Bell in Santa Cruz to follow her dream of moving to California and to live near the ocean and be closer to her sisters, Dorothy and Nell. Ruth met Chuck Breizy through family and they were married in 1979. Later they moved to San Luis Obispo after Chuck retired and resided there through 2008. Ruth received her AS degree in nursing in 1983 and enjoyed working for hospice and did private home care. Ruth was an avid reader and enjoyed being close to the ocean, family gatherings and being with friends were her favorite - she was a wonderful spark in the lives of those around her. Her church and faith were also a large part of her life. Ruth is survived by hers sons, Archie, Jr., Keith and Tom Gordon; her step children, David Breizy, Bryan Breizy and Barbara Whiteman; her grandson Kenny Gordon; her sister, Nell Wells and her brothers Gene, Tom, Ken and Bryant. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at Aptos Community United Methodist Church (221 Thunderbird Dr. Aptos (831) 688-2210) on Saturday, April 30, 2011 beginning at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity, 1014 Cedar St. Santa Cruz, CA 95060 (831) 469-4663.
