Obituary of Charles Henderson Ottowa

CHARLES "Charley" OTTOWA Services will be held in Aptos on Friday for Charley Ottowa, who passed away peacefully at his Soquel home on February 14, 2011. He was 91. Born in Ft. Madison, Iowa, he was raised in Minnesota from the age of 2. Mr. Ottowa served his country during WW II in the Army Medical Corps from 1942 to 1945. He moved to Santa Cruz in 1950 and earned a name for himself in the construction trade. For more than 40 years, Charley constructed and remodeled countless numbers of homes in Santa Cruz County. His family will forever cherish the many memories of Charley well into his late 80's, working out of his shop at home where he would build and design home furnishings for friends and family. He was a long time member of Twin Lakes Church and was an accomplished guitar player as well. He is survived by his three children, Karen Plahn of Southern California, Virginia Ottowa of Hayward, and Paul Ottowa of Soquel. Charley also leaves five beloved grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice in 1992. Friends and family will gather at Monschke Hall on the Twin Lakes Church Campus (2701 Cabrillo College Drive) in Aptos on Friday, February 18, 2011 beginning at 11 a.m. Remembrances in his name are preferred to Twin Lakes Church.
