Obituary of Eddy Frank Castro

Eddy F. Castro passed away Tuesday, 21 December 2010, at Pacific Coast Manor in Capitola, Ca., after a lengthy battle with Pneumonia. He was 94 years old. Eddy was born in Agnew Ca., February 27, 1916, to Tom and Anna Castro. He was one of twelve children. For most of his early life, Eddy lived and worked on farms in Tracy, Turlock, Manteca, Lathrop and San Jose, Ca. Eddy worked for Beechnut Lifesavers in San Jose, Ca. and retired after 31 years. He entered the Army in 1945 where he served the majority of his military time in Manila, Philippines. Eddy married the love of his life, Marian, in 1940. He and his family lived in Cupertino, Ca. from 1949 to 1985 when he and Marian moved to South Lake Tahoe to retire. After the death of his wife in 1995, Eddy returned to the Bay Area and for the majority of his time lived at Oak Tree Villa in Scotts Valley, Ca., before moving to Pacific Coast Manor in 2006. Eddy was a proficient golfer having won several golf titles at Sunken Gardens and Tahoe Paradise. He was also an accomplished artist and bowler as well. Eddy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and was dedicated to his family. He was a friend to many and will be missed by all. Eddy is survived by his sons Eddie J. Castro of Aptos, and Ron W. Castro of Reno, Nv., his former daughter-in-law Margaret Castro of Aromas, three granddaughters, Tracie Grosdidier (and her husband Chad of Aptos), Trisha Castro, and Megan Ramos (and her husband Paul of Aptos), and five great-grandchildren (Kristi Gonzalez, Jacob and Tyler Grosdidier, and William and Matthew Ramos). Eddy was preceded in death by his wife Marian, his son Timmy, and all of his siblings. The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to Dr's. Michael Coulson, Patrick Monahan, Roland Sharp and Rex Hsei for the exceptional care they provided to Dad. Also special thanks to the entire staff and support groups at Pacific Coast Manor for their dedication to Dad's well being. The family is extremely grateful to Adrien Suggs at Pacific Coast Manor for being such an exceptional Nurse and friend to our family.
