Obituary of Barbara Bisesto

Type Obit Here BARBARA H. BISESTO Barbara Ann Hogan Bisesto died peacefully in her home in Santa Cruz on Sunday, March 13, surrounded by her books, lots and lots of chocolate, her favorite daughter and wearing her patent leather shoes. Born in White Plains, New York on December 6, 1931, Barbara was one of seven children of the late Joseph and Marguerite Barrett Hogan. She is survived by her daughter Jackie of Santa Cruz, her son, William and his wife Shelley of San Francisco, son Robert of Tahoe City, grandchildren Charles Bisesto, Joseph Bisesto, and Nicole Aravena- Roy; brothers, Walter Hogan of Virginia Beach, VA, and Stephen Hogan of Unionville, CT; sisters, Margie Turcot of Ashville, NC, and Pat Sposato of Beverley Hills, CA. She also leaves her best friend who she met in the second grade, continuing on for a lifetime, Judy Shapiro from White Plains, NY, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Known for her quick wit and sharp tongue, Barbara was a powerful and positive influence on everyone she knew. Although she was once called "the worst baseball player in the world", for the last four years of her life, she didn't miss a day in her gym on Frederick Street, or riding her bike at home. The 90 lb fearless energizer bunny. Mike McNulty, thank you. Barbara kept active by antiquing, doting on her amazing grand boys, and keeping her daughter on the straight and narrow. Barbara owned and managed the popular 'Backstage Restaurant' in Scotts Valley for over 10 years. Many employees were awakened on their birthday by her, singing their "happy birthday to you" song. In fact, she had a song for every occasion and didn't hesitate to sing it. For those who would like to remember her, and sing and laugh, there will be a celebration of Barbara's life on Sunday, May 15th. Please call Jackie at (831) 331-9266 for details. The Queen B is and always will be greatly missed. To paraphrase Charles Schultz, whose comic Barbara loved, "It was a dark and stormy night, but Mother was there, so it wasn't scary at all. The End"
