Obituary of Audrey Elizabeth-Duncan Rood

Audrey Elizabeth Rood Audrey Elizabeth Rood passed away on April 2, 2011 at her home in Capitola. She was 92 years old. Born January 20, 1919, to William L. & Flora Jane Duncan in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. She grew up in Canada and later moved to Long Beach, California in 1957. In 1970 she found the comforts of her hometown in Capitola, California where she resided for the remainder of her life enjoying swimming, long walks to the beach, the forest-like surroundings, playing bingo and sing-alongs and potlucks with her many friends. Audrey devoted & shared her life with her family, beginning with eight siblings, Carl, Donald, Robert, Vernon, Jack, Reginald, Bruce, and Mary. Four children, Jane, Beverly, John & wife Gail, Elizabeth & husband Dallas. Eight grandchildren, Darrell, Cherrill, Michell, Michael, Jason, Jennifer, Kevin, & Kyle. Lastly, eleven great grandchildren, Tiffanie, Christopher, Frank, Shane, Jacob, Marc, Morgan, Kori, Jacob, Kayla, & Jayden. As a mom or Nannie she was a "true" definition of a Mother & Grandmother. Nannie possessed a tremendous amount of patience for children and her grandchildren. She was a comforting shoulder to cry on, as well as a playmate. She always had a way of making you giggle or just feel better about yourself. Nannie devoted so much of her life to her grandchildren. Her door and her arms were always open no matter the situation. Nannie was fun, and you could count on her to take you swimming, fishing, shopping, walks to the beach, bakery, berry picking, or to McDonald's for an ice cream cone. Whether if was the mom hat or Nannie hat, memories is what she created, memories is what she left us with and they will live on. She is and was an Amazing Woman. Audrey, (aka mom aka Nannie) has left behind a legacy and will be missed dearly.
