Obituary of Lewis Frederick Roubal

A funeral mass will celebrated on Tuesday for Lewis Roubal who passed away after a long illness on February 15, 2016 at the age of 57. Lewis was born in Dunedin, Florida, the third of four children to Edward Roubal of Bruno, Nebraska and Betty (Knightly) Roubal of Norway, Maine. In the summer of 1965, the family moved to Santa Cruz, California where Lewis attended Good Shepherd Elementary School. He graduated from Soquel High School in the class of 1976. Lewis attended Cabrillo College and became a professional carpenter. Specializing in trim and finish carpentry, he worked on many signature and historic homes in the San Francisco Bay Area. He was an accomplished bowler; competing in many tournaments and advanced leagues. Lewis was very proud of both of his son's accomplishments. He enjoyed following his son, Andrew's successful career in dance and theater, and his younger son Ryan, who competes for San Jose State University's Bowling Team. Lewis is survived by his wife of 30 years, Crissy Roubal, his sons Ryan of Santa Cruz, and Andrew of Orlando, Florida. He also leaves his mother Betty Roubal and sister Roxanne Gillespie of Eugene, Oregon, and brothers Jeff Roubal of Martinez, California and Greg Roubal of Hua Hin, Thailand, along with many nieces, nephews, and loving extended family members. His funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday evening, February 23, at Holy Cross Catholic Church (126 High Street) in Santa Cruz, beginning at 7 p.m. The committal ceremony will be private. Any kind acts of charity can be made in his memory to the Holy Cross Music Ministry Fund in care of the church.
