Obituary of Helen Stedman Stanyer

Helen Stedman Stanyer 10/7/14 - 9/17/10 Helen was born in Hackensack, New Jersey, to Albert Sherman Stedman and Elizabeth Leder Stedman. There were several older brothers plus many neighboring cousins. Helen graduated from Hackensack High School in 1933 and became employed by the local Ford dealership. In 1950 she was the bride of John Kennedy Stanyer. Jack was a native of England and made many trips across the North Atlantic as a youth. In New Jersey he had a career of managing brick manufacturing plants. The couple spent many vacations in Florida. In 1963 they came to California to manage the brick plant in Milpitas. When that operation ceased, Jack retired and the couple moved as one of the pioneering families to Spring Lakes Park in Scotts Valley. For the next thirty years Helen was administrative assistant for Kenneth Clouse Instructional Materials. She was an excellent plein air painter. Jack died in 1987. Helen was a member of the Felton Presbyterian Church, sang in the choir and was active in the Ladies Association. She was formerly a member of Dutch Reformed Churches in New Jersey and the Church of the Chimes in San Jose. Helen is survived by stepson Fred Stanyer in Sarasota, Florida, the family of Craig and Anne Stone of Tucson, Arizona plus many friends including the Kennedy family of Scotts Valley and the Clouse family of Felton. A memorial service will be held at the Felton Presbyterian Church on Sunday, September 26, beginning at 1 o'clock p.m. Burial will be at the Hackensack Cemetery, in New Jersey. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Ladies Association of the Felton Presbyterian Church, 6090 Highway 9, Felton, Ca 95018.
