WILLIAM L. GALLIETT Born on July 3, 1955, in Georgetown Ohio. Passed away peacefully at Dominican Hospital in Santa Cruz on December 15, following a brief illness, he was 55 years old. Affectionately known to all of his loved ones and co-workers as "Mr. Bill", he moved to Santa Cruz at the age of 5. He attended the San Andreas Farm School, from which he graduated in 1976. And for over 30 years, was a familiar face at both Hope Industries and Live Oak Skill Center where he worked as a clerk. His smile will be missed dearly by his co workers as well as staff members. Bill was a very kind and loving person whose gentle nature would bring out the best in all the lives that he touched. Bill had an easy going personality and a child like view of life. He was a quiet and peaceful person who was always eager to please. In his younger years, he enjoyed riding the Metro bus around town and taking long trips by car accompanied by his "Etch-a-Sketch". He also competed in several "Special Olympic" events held through out the state of California, earning many awards. Bill was an excellent driving companion who always knew the shortest way to get around town. He also enjoyed playing records for himself and his friends, earning another nickname: "DJ Botswata". His neighbors will miss his friendly waves to them along with his self appointed duty of keeping their sidewalks and street clean and tidy. His family will forever cherish the many memories of his love for bicycle riding, walks on the beach and his wonderful smile. "Mr. Bill's " favorite way to pass time was watching his television. He was a game show expert, often completing the answers to questions before the contestants on the show could respond. He is survived by loving his mother, Phyllis Galliett of Santa Cruz, his brothers, Robert L. Galliett of Roseville, and Michael Galliett of Utah, along with many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his father, William H. Galliett in 1997.
