Obituary of Mildred Inez Williams

MILDRED I. WILLIAMS 02/22/32-03/01/11 Millie was peacefully ushered into heaven on March 1, 2011 surrounded by her loving family. Millie was born in New Tazewell, Tennessee on February 22, 1932. She attended local schools in New Tazewell. She helped her mom raise her two sisters Wilma and Carolyn. In 1951 she met and married Estil Charles. Shortly after they married they relocated to Chicago where they started their family. She had two daughters, Glendy and Patty. Millie worked for NABISCO for 13 years and due to an accident she was forced to retire early. In 1969 she met and married Bill Williams. Shortly after that they relocated to Burns Harbor, IN, where they lived for approximately 35 years. Millie attended a local church where she was active in the kitchen, serving meals, cleaning and transporting her friends to and from church. She enjoyed the farm life in Indiana where she raised prize winning rabbits. In 2004 they relocated to Santa Cruz due to health concerns/issues and to be close to her family. She enjoyed her life here in Santa Cruz because she was surrounded by numerous family members and made so many new friends. She was a very social lady and always greeted everybody with a smile and a Hello, How are you? One of the highlights of her last two Christmases was she received a treat and a Christmas card from her garbage men who hand delivered it to her front door. Her family and neighbors knew her as the local weather reporter, as she would post the weather daily on a chalk board in her front window. She loved to be social with her neighbors, spending time with her daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. After visiting with Millie you were given a sweet hug and treat to take home, because nobody left her home empty handed. She is preceded in death by her father, Jake Carey, mother, Alaska Carey, brother, Kenneth Carey, son, Terry Wayne and daughter, Janet. She is survived by her daughters, Glendy Sue-Aptos, Patty VonBlon-Indiana and Pamela Gandolfi-Aptos. She is also survived by two sisters who both live in Tennessee, Wilma Clark and Carolyn Irwin. She leaves behind five grandsons and twelve great-grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She will be missed by (her daughters) and, we know, we will see each other again in heaven. Thanks Mom for being our mom and sharing your time, love and laughter with us all.
