Carmen Santee

Obituary of Carmen Santee

Carmen Kamel (Elzalaki) Santee gained her angel wings on September 21, 2021 at her home enveloped in the arms of her loving daughter, Monica. Born in Woodland, California, Carmen was 60 years of age. Carmen was a unique, caring, selfless mother, sister, aunt, friend and wife.  She saw only the good in everyone, and lived a life that spread laughter, joy and kindness everywhere she went. She welcomed everyone with open arms and would light up a room the second she walked in. Carmen's passion and love for her family made every holiday memorable, bringing family and friends together with special, thoughtful gifts, never forgetting birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, weddings and always arriving unexpectedly at just the right moment, somehow knowing you needed her. One of her sisters summed her up perfectly, saying " I just felt better sitting next to her, she didn't even have to talk". She dedicated much of her time, energy and love to care and service others in need. Both the less fortunate and the truly ill, those who could no longer fend for themselves. This she did gracefully, seemingly, unnoticed and without effort, while serving as a wife, a mother, and a best friend to those fortunate enough to have made her acquaintance. She found her happy place in Zephyr Cove, NV where she enjoyed all the lake had to offer. The beautiful views, trails, snow, boating, concerts and dinners lakeside. She loved watching the amazing sunsets every night and sharing her love for the lake with everyone. She was our true angel on earth and the impact she made on everyone she met will last for an eternity.

Carmen is survived by her husband Rusty Santee, daughter Monica Elzalaki (Jessica), stepsons Reed (Maria), Clark (Herbert) and Greg (Katy), brother Ralph (Nancy), brother Monir (Kim), sister Gloria, sister Susan (David) and numerous nieces, nephews and grandchildren.

Carmen was preceded in death by her parents Kamel and Janice Elzalaki, beloved son Christopher, brothers Anwar and Kamel, and former husband William Rees.
