Obituary of Lynda Ponchione Montgomery

Devoted wife, mother, and grandmother Lynda Ponchione Montgomery passed away on October 21, 2021 after a 5 year battle with brain cancer. She spent her final days surrounded by her husband of 42 years, Dr. David Montgomery, four sons (Matthew, Scott, Tim and Eric), five grandchildren, and her sister Christine.

Lynda was born in San Jose, California on July 13, 1956. Her late parents Monique and Charles both emigrated from France and she was always proud of her heritage and loved speaking French whenever the opportunity presented. She graduated from Santa Clara University with a degree in history, and remained an avid reader for the remainder of her life.

Her greatest joy and true calling in life was motherhood. She proudly referred to herself as a hover mother and called or emailed every one of her children daily. Her Catholic faith was central to her life and something she impressed upon her children. As an empty nester she enjoyed time with her grandchildren, shopping (for anything), phone calls with friends and family, traveling the world, and visiting every corner of California with Dave.

The Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 29 at Resurrection Catholic Church in Aptos. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Resurrection Catholic Church.
