Obituary of Johnny Gilbert Maestas

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday in Santa Cruz Johnny Maestas who died at Dominican Hospital on October 25, 2010 following a lengthy illness. He was 62 years old. Johnny Gilbert Maestas was born August 15, 1948 in Las Vegas, New Mexico. He moved to Santa Cruz in 1974. He is survived by his wife Rosie, son Peter and his wife Renee of Corralitos, son Johnnie of Phoenix, daughter Pamela Maestas and her friend Rory McFadden, grandsons Zachary and Matthew, granddaughters Asia Rose and Marina Rosie. He also leaves 4 brothers, Joe, Milre??, Rick and Henry, 4 sisters, Frances, Dolores, Josie, Christine and many nieces and nephews, sisters and brother in laws and uncles and aunts. Johnny worked at Scotts Valley Circuits, and his career in circuit board plating spanned over 33 years. He was a parishioner of Holy Cross Church. Johnny was a Cowboys fan and he loved to fish and camp. He was a devoted coach and fan who enjoyed watching his children and grandsons play sports. He coached women's softball at Cabrillo College for 2 years and 4 years as a coach for GALS, along with many T Ball and Little League teams as well. The mass will be held on Thursday, October 28th at Holy Cross Catholic Church (126 High Street) beginning at 1 p.m. A viewing will be held at the church beginning at 11 a.m.. Committal services will be private. The lieu of flowers the family would like donations to the Aptos High School Football program.
