Obituary of Lenore Agnes Gerson

Lenore Gerson Graveside Services for Lenore Gerson, 91, of Felton, will be held on Saturday, October 2nd at 11:00 am at Felton Cemetery. Mrs. Gerson was born and raised on a daily farm in Duluth, Minnesota along with four siblings including her twin brother Leonard. She worked as a baker's assistant in Cromwell, Minnesota later relocating to San Francisco where she was employed in the shoe department at the famous department store J. Magnin. She later began to date Jerry, her future husband, who worked in the same store in the nearby glove department. Their first dates included golf outings, a sport they both enjoyed. While still living in Millbrae, Lenore and Jerry often visited friends located in Felton and it was their love of the area and its people that motivated them to relocate there in the early sixties. They found a house and neighborhood that took on a special place in their hearts and became their true home. Lenore had a genuine love for both people and animals alike, offering each assistance and comfort during the course of her life. Many were touched by her kindness and generosity and her home was always a haven for stray animals and neighborhood pets. Over the course of her time in Felton, she became a cornerstone of the local community and an integral part of her neighborhood's culture. Lenore was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, two brothers, her husband and her son. She is survived by one grandson, David Riveness; one granddaughter, Deborah Linggi; a great-grandson, Connor; one sister, Evelyn Stephens of Minnesota; many nieces and nephews as well as countless friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Santa Cruz County (940 Disc Dr., Scotts Valley, CA 95066, 831.430.3000), a wonderful organization full of people who provided exceptional care and comfort during her final weeks.
