March 31, 1930 – December 5, 2021
Resident of Santa Cruz
Recitation of the Holy Rosary and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Santa Cruz for Juanita Antonio Zamora who passed away peacefully on the morning of Sunday, December 5, 2021 at the age of 91. Born in Calasiao, Pangasinan, Philippines, she and her husband moved to Santa Cruz in 1978. Juanita’s memory will forever be cherished by her 9 children, 18 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She was a long time parishioner of Holy Cross Catholic Church and for many years was employed with Mission Linen.
Juanita loved her family and in return her family loved to make her laugh. She enjoyed family visits and would often spend hours telling stories at the kitchen table about anything and everything. She was also very hospitable and made sure everyone ate enough before they left and had extra food to take home. Juanita was a big fan of the San Francisco Giants and would never miss a game on TV.
She is survived by her five daughters: Trifonia Ofrancia, Lucia Laforteza, Rosalina Sabado (Jimmy), Francisca Zamora, Teresita Baldemor (Rosendo), and four sons: Mario Zamora (Rhodora), Domingo Zamora, Rafael Zamora (Evelyn), and Jovencio Zamora (Aimee), four sisters all in the Philippines, and one brother in Las Vegas. She also leaves her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her husband Mauricio Zamora preceded Juanita in death in 2017.
Friends may pay their respects at a viewing on Friday, December 17, 2021 at Benito and Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. A recitation of the rosary will begin at 5 p.m. at the chapel. The mass will be celebrated on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at Holy Cross Church (126 High Street) in Santa Cruz beginning at 9:30 a.m. She will be laid to rest beside her late husband Mauricio at Holy Cross Cemetery, following the mass.
