Obituary of Wanda June Legge

WANDA JUNE LEGGE 1924 - 2010 A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Capitola, for Wanda June Legge who passed away at Dominican Hospital with her family at her bedside on December 19, 2010. June was born in Coweta, Oklahoma and moved to California with her family at the age of six. She was raised in the Gilroy area, and attended Live Oak High School in Morgan Hill. There, she met and married her high school sweetheart Elmoe "Moe' Legge. Moe and June moved to Santa Cruz in 1946 and over the next several years, had six children who June devoted her life to caring for and raising. Moe and June loved to water ski and spent their vacations at Clear Lake and Coyote Lake. As one of the original owners of Opal Cliffs Market, June worked side by side with her family as the business both flourished and expanded over the years. June resided in Aptos with her family for 40 years before retiring to Scotts Valley 10 years ago. She was a life long parishioner of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Capitola. June is survived by her six children; Cheryl (Carl) Annette, Pat (Kathy) Carol, Jim (Diane), and Kelly; her eight grandchildren: Tom, Jason, Darrell, Michael, John Michael, Jimmy, Derek, and Ashley; five great grandchildren: Jared, Sophia, Gianna, Ashton, and Tanner. She also leaves many devoted friends, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Moe in 1983. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 1:00 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church (435 Monterey Ave.) in Capitola on Tuesday, December 28, 2010. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. A private committal service will take place at Holy Cross Mausoleum in Santa Cruz, where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Moe. Any kind acts of charity may be made in June's memory to Hospice of Santa Cruz County (940 Disc Drive, Scotts Valley, CA. 95066) "We Love You Nona"
