Georgene Goodwin and i sing in a ukulele duo called the "Broken G Strings" as well as in a trio with Gina Jett, called "Three in a Chord". Music rought me to Art as it did to many others. He came to play with The Banjos By the Bay for awhile and I throughly enjoyed knowing him for the few years that I did. What a good spirit he had. He will be missed.

I have such wonderful memories of Art over the past 10 years while I was a member of the musical group Jazz Birds. Art was always an enthusiastic music lover and great repertoire adviser. One of our most popular tunes, The Codfish Ball, was recommended to us by Art. He would "artfully" dance with my mother on the slower tunes, and it was always a delight to see him in the audience. I first got to know Art at Dominican Oaks when I performed shows there for Young at Heart Project, and he graciously consented to introducing my shows to the audience. I will miss his bright smllling presence and lively intelligence very much.

Lynn...we were so sad to hear that Art had passed away. While he was in the hospital, Mick Marlar and I went up to Dominican with our Ukulele's and sang him some songs. He really enjoyed it. He was a great guy and a wonderful Ukulele player. He will be sadly missed by the Santa Cruz Ukulele Club and all it's members...our thoughts and prayers are with you...."Aloha Art"...until we meet again.

Art has been a inspiration to me. I met him when he came to take a ukulele workshop at my house, we've been friend s ever since. What a great guy, always smiling and loving life. When he came to hear the Island Breeze Band It always made me feel great. He was always a joy to talk to and fun to play music with. All of us here in Santa Cruz will really miss him.

Dear Peggy: I was sad to learn of your dad's passing. His photo in the Sentinel is terrific! I really see that Holloway resemblance to Grump. I remember your dad as a friendly, gracious, charming man - he was always nice to see at Porter events and at Dominican. I will now think of him as part of that amazing gang somewhere in the stratosphere - Grump, Rap, Vera - Such good company!
Thinking of you,
Robin

Art was a wonderful friend and fan of Jazz Birds, a band that I was a part of. Art came to all of our concerts and didn't miss one until it got too hard for him to go out. We were honored to do an in-house concert for Art during his last months here. It will always touch my heart to remember looking a him while I was singing and his eyes were closed in complete rapture while he listened for the last time to one of his favorite vocal harmony groups.
Arts death marked the end of an era for me and I will miss him very much. God Bless Art Edwards and keep him safe till we meet again.

I will always remember Art's elegance, warmth and kindness. He was a smooth dancer, appreciated Hawaiian songs, and greeted all of his Ukulele Club friends with his winning smile. My birthday is a day before his. I will drink a toast to you, Art.
Aloha,
Cherie Alver
