Obituary of Carmen Marie Norris

Carmen Marie Norris Nov. 25, 1949 - March 22, 2011 61 years old Carmen passed away suddenly from an apparent heart attack at home with her husband by her side. Her passing was totally unexpected. Carmen was born in San Francisco, CA and lived as a child in Cupertino and Boulder Creek and Ben Lomond as a teenager. She graduated from San Lorenzo Valley High School in 1967. After marriage to her husband Steve in 1969, she lived in Boulder Creek for 5 years before moving to Prunedale where she lived for the reminder of her life. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Bill and Carmelita Struthers and sister Sharon. She is survived by her husband Steve Norris, son and daughter-in-law Anthony and Julie Norris, her beloved grandson Matthew, brothers William and Robert Struthers, sister Carol Stone, and step-father Earl Barnes. Carmen was an avid bowler for many years. She was currently on 2 bowling leagues, Nakayoshi and Gutterettes where she had many friends. She was also a director for the Monterey Bowling Association. She loved football (especially the 49ers), fantasy football and her personal football pool with friends and family. She spent innumerable Sundays shouting her opinions at players and officials from her chair in front of the television. Carmen also enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, Europe, the Caribbean, Mexico and Canada with family and close friends. She was a member of the Gold Dust Travelers RV group. Her greatest joy was being with her 4 year old grandson Matthew. Carmen will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, and sharp sense of humor. She was always willing to lend a hand, a sympathetic ear, or a much-needed hug. She was the fun-loving center of many circles of friends and family. A memorial service will be held at11:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 2nd at the Pacific Garden Chapel at 1050 Cayuga St. Santa Cruz at 11:30 A.M.
