Obituary of Doreen Lusier Terry

Doreen Terry passed away in her Santa Cruz home on Monday July 12, 2010 at the age of 85. Born and raised in Seattle, Washington she graduated form Garfield High class of 43, then attended the University of Washington where she was a member of the Sigma Kappa Sorority. During that time she bucked rivets for the Boeing Flying Fortress. She met and married Dr. Howard Terry Jr. in 1952 while he was stationed as a Medical Officer with the U.S.Coast Guard at Port Angeles. They settled in Rochester Minnesota for 13 years and Doreen was active in volunteer work at the Mayo Clinic where her husband practiced as an anesthesiologist. In 1966 she moved with her family to Santa Cruz, California. Doreen enjoyed many activities, primarily spending time with her family, pampering her pets and caring for her garden. She also enjoyed cooking, boating, fishing; outdoor activities & travel. She is survived by her son William Terry of Santa Cruz; and four daughters Joanne Gregg and her husband Rodney of Santa Cruz; Pat Terry and her husband Col. Mac McDonald of Lakewood, Washington; Barbara Terry of Scotts Valley; and Linda Azevedo and her husband Todd of Aromas. Doreen leaves behind three beloved grandchildren Brandon & Callie Gregg & Cody Azevedo; and her brother Raymond Lusier and his wife Barbara of Seattle Washington. She was preceded in death by her husband Howard, and her parents Joseph and Ethyl Lusier. A private memorial service with family will be held at Evergreen-Washelli Cemetery on August 28th at 1:00 PM in Seattle, Washington. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to your local SPCA in honor of Doreen's love of animals. Arrangements are under the direction of Benito & Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel in Santa Cruz.
