Obituary of Marilyn Zimmerman

MARILYN FRANCES ZIMMERMAN A visitation will be held on Thursday in Santa Cruz for Marilyn Zimmerman who passed away on March 4, 2011 in Santa Cruz. She was 74 years old. Marilyn was born in St. Joseph, Missouri and was a long time resident of Wilcox, Nebraska, and Monett, Missouri. She raised her family in Nebraska and later in Missouri retiring in Monett. Marilyn worked off and on, as a medical transcriber with a career that spanned over 20 years. Marilyn moved to Santa Cruz four years ago to be near her daughter, and was a familiar face at Peet's Coffee & Tea in Capitola. She was a regular attendee of Cindy's Celebrations gatherings, and will be missed by the many friends and caregivers who came to know her. Her family will cherish very precious memories of Marilyn's love for being outdoors; working in her garden, and receiving manicures and pedicures that she always looked forward to. She was a lover of music and all animals; with a special love for feeding birds, almost anywhere along the ocean. Marilyn had the special ability to share her love and joy of life until her very last days; always reaching out to people with a hug, a kiss, or a sweet smile. She is survived by her daughter, Melissa Zimmerman of Santa Cruz, her son, Leonard Zimmerman of Raymore, Missouri, and three grandsons, Connor, Carson, and Colby. Friends may pay their respects at Benito and Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel 91050 Cayuga St.) in Santa Cruz on Thursday, March 10th from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. She will be buried at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in St. Joseph, Missouri, beside her beloved husband, Clayton, who preceded her in death.
