Obituary of Elsie B Marshall

Elsie B. Marshall Elsie B. Marshall passed away February 7, 2011 at her home in Capitola. She was 90. Elsie was born in Stevenson, California and grew up in Watsonville. She worked many years for Shaffer Tropical Gardens, grafting and propagating orchids. Elsie had a type of orchid named after her. She was very involved for most of her life in a number of women's organizations. She served as Supreme President from 1982-1983 of U.P.P.E.C, President of S.P.R.S.I. and was a member of Native Daughters of the Golden West, Saint Anthony, I.S.M.M., I.D.E.S., Cabrillo Club, S.E.S., Catholic Daughters, Y.L.I. and A.P.U.M.E.C., Elsie had a strong faith and was a devoted member of Saint Joseph's Catholic Church. She was a generous contributor to many organizations and was a strong supporter of the Salesians of St. John Bosco order of Catholic Priests, the order of which her son was a member. Elsie's family described her as a loving mother and grandmother and in her spare time enjoyed gardening and collecting cows. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Teherani of Capitola; sister, Rosaline Smith of Kenmore, WA; grandchildren, Shoule M. Teherani of Santa Cruz and David Teherani of Santa Cruz; She is also survived by a great granddaughter, Victoria Bean of Bend, OR and numerous nieces and nephews. Elsie was preceded in death by her husband, Albert J. Marshall in 1981 and her son, Fr. Albert W. Marshall in 1997. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 435 Monterey Ave, Capitola, CA on Tuesday February 15, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. A vigil prayer service and Rosary will be recited at Benito & Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel, 1050 Cayuga St, Santa Cruz, CA on Monday evening at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will be at the chapel on Monday from 1:00 p.m. until service time.
