Obituary of Carlton Dare Keegan

Eighteen-year old Carlton Dare Keegan passed away on Wednesday March 30th 2022 in a tragic car accident.

Carlton came into this world on February 26, 2004. Foretelling the 6-foot three-inch football player he would become, he weighed a solid 8lbs 5oz at his birth. Surrounded with love from the start, he joined his big brother Cooper only 19 months older and soon welcomed younger brothers Chaser and Colton into the fold.

Together with his family and friends, Carlton spent many weekends camping by the American River, Pismo Beach and in Forrest Hill where he enjoyed a childhood full of outdoor adventures, riding waves at the beach, swimming in rivers, tubing and wakeboarding behind the boat, dirt biking with his Dad, friends, and brothers, and cruising through the Santa Cruz mountains in an old convertible. It truly was a great childhood.

Carlton attended Vine Hill Elementary School, Scotts Valley Middle School, and Scotts Valley High School. He was a Team Captain for the Falcons Varsity Football Team, awarded First-Team All-Conference and was Offensive Player of the Year. He also played on his high school varsity lacrosse and golf teams. He was preparing for his High School graduation this May, looking forward to more good times with all of his friends, continuing school and football in college this fall.

He is survived by his parents, Leanne and Ken Keegan; his brothers Cooper, Chaser and Colton Keegan; maternal grandparents Ron and Debbie Tomasello; and paternal grandmother Gretchen Keegan, predeceased by paternal grandfather Ken Keegan. He is also survived by dear cousins, aunts and uncles, countless friends and his loving pup Roner.

Carlton’s services will be held at the Scotts Valley High School Football Field at 11 am on Saturday April 16, 2022. The service is informal; if you have Falcon’s gear or Falcon’s colors, please wear them in Carlton’s honor.
