Obituary of Madelyn Alta Cline
Our sweet girl, Madelyn Cline, born October 23, 2002, died unexpectedly from complications due to Rett Syndrome on August 22, 2022. She died in the loving embrace of her parents, Deardra and Bruce. Madelyn experienced many challenges due to Rett Syndrome in her short nineteen years, but she was a funny, feisty girl who loved cuddling and being read to, especially if the books had silly rhymes and pictures. She also loved movies like “Frozen” and "Nemo." Most of all, she basked in the love and affection of her family, friends, and dedicated caregivers. Madelyn also gave hope to her family and all families affected by Rett Syndrome by participating in research studies to find a cure for this terrible affliction. Although these studies could not save our Madelyn, we remain hopeful for the future. Madelyn, with her soulful, sparkling blue eyes, and radiantly infectious smile, was our beautiful, beloved girl. Madelyn is survived by her parents, Deardra and Bruce Cline, her brother Garrett Cline, and a huge village of family, caregivers, and friends who surrounded her with love, and received much more in return. She is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Russell and Dorothy Cline, and her maternal grandparents, Donald and Teresa Englen. A celebration of Madelyn's life will be held for family and friends on September 10, Open house from 2pm-8pm, at the Santa Cruz Elks Lodge with service starting at 3:30pm. We encourage you to carpool if possible. Please wear Madelyn's favorite color, purple, if you can. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations in Madelyn's honor to the International Rett Syndrome Foundation.
