Obituary of Ruth Meichia Kuo

Beloved mother and grandmother Ruth Meichia Kuo passed away on November 11th, 2022 at the age of 82. She left peacefully in her sleep at her home in Santa Cruz, California.

Ruth was born into a devout Christian family in Zhangzhou, Fujian, China. Her parents were Dr. Shu-Fan Kuo and Lena Shu-Lan Liu. Ruth was the eldest daughter and the sixth of eight siblings. After graduating from high school, she attended a local college and studied in the chemistry department. Later on, she worked as a medical assistant.

In 1964, Ruth married Luke Yiukai Liu and had a daughter. In the 1980s they immigrated to the United States and settled in Santa Cruz, California. Ruth became an assembler in an electronics factory. After many years of hard work, she retired in 2004 to help raise her granddaughter.

In her twilight years, Ruth enjoyed gardening, attending her church, and taking walks around the neighborhood. She loved doting on her grand nieces and nephews, and giving little gifts and trinkets to everyone she met. She was loved by many for her kindness, generosity, and vibrant personality.

Ruth passed peacefully in her sleep by Luke's side in their home. She is now in Heaven where there is no sorrow and pain, but warmth and love, surrounded by beautiful flowers.

A celebration of Ruth's life will be held at 10:00 AM, on Saturday November 19th, 2022, at Benito & Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel, followed by a burial at Pajaro Valley Memorial Park.
