Obituary of Gaël Roziere

Gaël Roziere

December 31, 1947 – November 14, 2022

52 Year Resident of Santa Cruz

Gaël Roziere died peacefully in her home on November 14th, 2022.  Just as she curated her life, her passing followed suit. Her loving son, Kyle Wiesinger, and his wife Lauren stayed by her side while countless loved ones came to say their goodbyes. She was held in love and gratitude through her final moments on this earth.

Gaël’s life was multicultural and unique.  She was born in New York City on New Year’s Eve 1947 to Sonia and Frederick de la Roziere, both of France. She was raised in New York until her family moved to Mexico City to pursue business opportunities. Gael and her younger sister, Arati de la Roziere, immersed themselves in the culture and spoke primarily in Spanish to one another throughout their lives. As young girls, they went to both Swiss and French boarding schools which had a lasting impact on the women they became. Gael spoke French as well and has large family lineage throughout France, most significantly her loving older sister Anne d’Ornano of Paris and Normandy and her late brother, Arnold de Contades.

Gaël then attended nursing school in New York, and took that education back to Oaxaca where she began her lifelong passion of body work and healing. She later moved to Santa Cruz, California where she finally grew roots and settled in. Throughout her life she dedicated herself to learning body systems and ways to heal through Somatic Therapies. She was devoted to helping others through mind, body and spiritual health. Her modalities of expertise were Cranio-Sacral therapy, Rosen Movement, and guiding sponsees through the workings of Al-Anon.  Gaels healing spirit leaves a wake of comfort and thanks behind it.

Gael was a talent.  She was a writer-a poet, an artist, a model, and a dancer/choreographer.

The true love of her life was family. She was married to Steve Wiesinger until she wasn’t, and then they remained close friends for the rest of her life. Together they raised their son, Kyle Wiesinger, now a firefighter/paramedic. Gael beamed with pride at her son’s accomplishments, her favorite being his and his wife Lauren’s two sons Gray and Johnny Wiesinger. Gaël was a devout G-Ma, the kind every young child deserves but not many are so lucky to have.

When Gael was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer, her own strength of body mind and spirit became even more inspirationally apparent. She fought and processed and stayed true to her own inner knowing until her death.  She kept her wits, dignity, and loving kindness in her blue eyes as she said goodbye and thank you to all who came to see her off.

A celebration of Gaël’s beautiful life will be held on her 75th birthday, December 31st 2022 at the DeAnza Clubhouse at 2 o’clock. The address is 2395 Delaware Avenue Santa Cruz, CA 95060.  All are welcome to come enjoy French appetizers and Mexican tortilla chips and guacamole, listen to the diverse music she loved, admire her art, see her modeling pictures, hear her poetry and celebrate a life well lived.  Please RSVP to laurenwiesinger@yahoo.com.
