Leslie Dumller

Obituary of Leslie Ann Dumller

September 8, 1951 – December 1, 2022

60 Year Resident of Scotts Valley

A memorial ceremony is planned in August for Leslie Dumller who passed away at Dominican Hospital at the age of 71.  Born in Modesto and raised in Lafayette she moved to Scotts Valley as a youngster.  In 1968, she was crowned Miss Scotts Valley, and her very first job was working at Santa’s Village.  Leslie graduated from Soquel High School in 1969, and later married the love of her life, Don Dumller.  Leslie began a career of more than 25 years in administration at UCSC, including managing the fire department services at the university.   Leslie cherished the many lifelong friendships that were made there.

She and Don raised two children, Brett and Katie, and Leslie will fondly be remembered for her devotion to her family, and to many others.  She truly enjoyed giving and loving far beyond whatever she was to receive in return.  The annual family getaway to Palm Springs, and taking ocean cruises with Don, to many distant destinations were most special.

Many memories will continued to be shared of her love for lunches and getaways with her girlfriends, planning sleepovers and bonfires at her beautiful Scotts Valley home, and most recently, spending hours in the sun and gardening.

Her love for the ocean and for mermaids is a continuing theme throughout her home, along with beautiful photo displays of all her grandchildren adorning the walls so as she often said, “she was always with them.”

Leslie is survived by her loving husband Don Dumller, her mother; Anne Ripley, her sister; Darcy Ripley, her son and daughter-in-law; Brett and Nicole Nunn, and her daughter and son-in-law; Katie and Tony Bruckner.  She also leaves her beloved grandchildren Drew (10), Fletcher (8), Lola (6), Tanner (6), Walker (5) and her mother-in-law, Sue Dumller along with countless extended family and dearest friends.

Leslie was preceded in death by her father, Marlin P. Ripley and her brother Rod Norden.
