Obituary of William Lee Brown

March 13, 1944 – January 28, 2023

60 year Resident of Santa Cruz

Funeral services have been held in Capitola for William Brown, who passed away in Santa Cruz at the age of 78.

Born in Bremerton, Washington, William was  raised in Klamath Falls, Oregon, where he fell in love and married his high school sweetheart, Evelyn Anderson, in September 1964. As a couple, they were partners in all things for fifty years.

William was affectionately known to everyone as Bill, and will fondly be remembered for his love of family and his dedication to them. Bill was a deeply religious man and was thankful for the gift of family that was bestowed upon him.

Many memories will continue to be shared by his family of his love for animals and of the adventures around Santa Cruz that he enjoyed so much.

Bill worked many years in his family’s restaurant business in the late 1960’s and 70’s.  He never lost his love for cooking and was proud of the dishes he created and enjoyed eating them just as much. He lived with so much joy in his heart and would joyously exclaim "Oh boy!" whenever he was surprised with something yummy to eat.

Bill and his wife Evelyn were regular mass attendees and volunteers at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Capitola and the Shrine of St. Joseph’s Guardian of the Redeemer on West Cliff Drive.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Evelyn in 2014, and is survived by his two sons, Brian and David, and his daughter Melissa.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on February 16, 2023, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Capitola.

He was laid to rest beside his beloved late wife, Evelyn, at Holy Cross Mausoleum in Santa Cruz.
