Obituary of Allen Tarson

Allen Tarson, born May 22, 1947, died unexpectedly at his home in Santa Cruz on Saturday,
June 2. Allen lived in Santa Cruz for over 40 years. Big Al recently celebrated his
32nd recovery birthday and was well-known and loved in the recovery community. A bit of a
renaissance man, Allen was a talented musician, ceramic artist, golfer, fisherman, poker player,
pool shark, and storyteller. Also a fixture in the garage sale, flea market, and antique fair
communities, he loved a good treasure hunt and passing along those treasures to others. Allen
is survived by his loving partner of 22 years, Lori; his daughter-by-choice, Nicole; and a host of
friends from all walks of life. A celebration of life will be held at Grant Street Park on Friday,
June 29th, at 4:30.
