I met Linda on May16, 2018. We had both entered a show, Ms. Culver City Elegance 2018. We were lined up next to each other and we introduced ourselves right away. We hit if off immediately. I thought that Linda was a spitting image of Shirley MacLaine, in appearance and voice. So I started calling her Shirley. That first day of rehearsal, I kept calling her
Shirley, but she would not turn around. When I approached her, I asked why she didn't respond. She said, "I heard you calling for Shirley. My name is Linda". We were getting to know one another. She took notes during the rehearsal of some of the questions asked of each of us in preparation for the show. I thought that was a great idea, so we exchanged phone numbers and I called her that first night. After a few cocktails, at least on my end, we compiled the list of the questions and tried to formulate the best answers. No need to be nervous. We spent over two hours on the phone that first night and talked about the show and ourselves.
The next rehearsal was Saturday morning. We had spoken every night between rehearsals. Linda showed me ten pictures of herself to use in the show and asked me to pick my favorite. My favorite, also, happened to be her favorite. Great minds! We even became a little catty over one contestant who was just not able to follow simple directions. Rehearsal went well and we talked again that night. Linda had not decided on her outfit for the show. I told her to bring all the options on the following day.
Sunday morning was filled with excitement. Linda brought a fabulous sparkly, bronze jacket that complimented her hair and matched it with a long black skirt and black shell. That was THE OUTFIT! She looked marvelous. Before the show began, we were asked to write down on a piece of paper who we thought was Ms. Congeniality. During the show, while we were backstage, we told each other that we had voted for each other. Great minds again!
Linda's question was: If you could change one thing on the planet, what would it be? Linda's response was immediate. She would abolish cruelty to all animals, domestic and wild. This was her passion in life.
I was selected Ms. Culver City Elegance 2018 and Ms. Congeniality. Linda was thrilled for me and said that she would enter the show again next year. We drank champagne the rest of the afternoon.
Linda was my friend of five days and counting. I believe that I was Linda's last new girlfriend, she was mine. Prayers for you, dear Linda, and I will see you someday.

Linda, I can hear your voice, as well as your laugh. I can hear you asking the waiter at El Cholo for another margarita or the waitress at Truxtons for another glass of wine. We had so many lunches together over these last years and I hoped we were soon going to meet yet again to celebrate your 74th birthday.
We first met 38 years ago while both working at CFI. Eventually our day jobs took us in different directions, but we never lost contact. Though we didn’t see each other often, whenever we did we could just pick up where we’d left off. We might have exchanged a few prickly words now and then, but nothing was said that we didn’t get past.
Aside from being smart and perceptive, I particularly appreciated your spiritual approach to life. You also had a great compassion for all animals and were always generous in your support of their welfare. At home, we know you doted on Miss Kitty.
You left the party too soon, my gregarious friend, my heart is sad. We both had more to say, so I’ll carry on the conversation in my head...knowing that I just might get some sass back from you.
The life of a soul on earth lasts beyond physical presence.
In loving friendship,
Loree

Dear James,
Linda was at once physically and emotionally beautiful. She always brought an unassuming but ready for fun demeanor. It was not possible to avoid a good time with her. Yet she was adventurous in her explorations of the unknown and desirous of learning much more. There was more to talk of with her and it will wait till later. We send you love and hopes for peace as I know rather than feeling loss she would have us cheer her on in her latest travels.

James,
So shocked and saddened by Linda's passing. I worked with her at CFI ('79-'82) and remained friends over all the intervening years. We have numerous photos of Linda with our then newborn boys over the years. They are now 26-35 years old so it has covered some time. She was always a lot of fun and a joy with which to spend time. Fondly remembering sharing a glass of wine (or two) with Linda and enjoying her company. We will miss her as well and toast to her playful spirit.

I met Linda when I was about three or four years old. She came to live with us at Longwood Drive in Los Gatos at about that same time. I remember her red hair and her tall boots and how pretty she was (yes ladies, four-year olds see your beauty even at four ). It was the first time I had ever seen such footwear. Shoes almost as tall as I was at the time. When she moved I was sad that she left. I remember those feelings even now. When our dad took me to Disneyland, we would stay with her. So for me LA meant fun, sun and beautiful Linda.
