Obituary of Ginger Gail Reed

Ginger Gail Reed

June 13, 1951 – August 17, 2018

48 Year Resident of Santa Cruz

A graveside ceremony will be held in Santa Cruz on Monday for Ginger Reed who passed away unexpectedly at Dominican Hospital this past weekend.  Born in San Jose, California to Bill and Virginia Gruenwald, she was 67 years old.

Ginger was a beloved wife of 26 years to Bob Reed, who was the love of her life. The couple enjoyed taking family and friend’s salmon fishing on their boat, and Ginger always looked forward to spending time with her “grandbabies”.  Many memories will always be cherished of Ginger’s big smile and devotion to family by keeping in touch with them, no matter how far away her large family lived from her.

Ginger’s exquisite taste in fashion; jewelry in particular, was recognized and admired by her loved ones. Ginger’s bigger than life smile was often the prologue of her voicing her opinion on the topic at hand.

She is survived by her husband Bob Reed, her son and daughter Brian Stoner and Daydra Williams.  She mourned the death of her son Gerrad Stoner in 1998, but her resilient heart and ability to love remained constant.

Ginger also leaves her grandchildren; Damian Stoner, Jaxson Stoner, Johnny Stoner, McCoy Stoner, Troy King, Kyanna Bess, Denea Williams, and Dalani Williams; her sisters and brothers-in-law; Cleo and Charlie Villarreal, Billie and Don Brummett, Jonell and Jim Chiodo, Germaine and Bob Rountree; and was preceded in death by one sister, Jeannie Ann and all of her 6 brothers: William Keith Gruenwald, Virgil Gruenwald, Richard “Dick” Gruenwald, Herb Gruenwald, Johnny Gruenwald, George Gruenwald, and is survived by Virgil’s wife Betty Gruenwald, Herb’s wife, Betty Gruenwald, and George’s wife, Annie Gruenwald, and is loved by many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will pay their respects at a viewing to be held on Monday August 27th at Benito and Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.  A graveside ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday at Oakwood Memorial Park where she will be laid to rest beside her son Gerrad. Please visit the Benito and Azzaro homepage to share your thoughts and prayers with her family.
