Obituary of Majorie Ruth McClellan

Marge McClellan. (nee Ness)47 year resident of Soquel, passed away on Aug. 12, 10 days shy of her 93rd birthday. She was born in 1925 in Denver Colo. While attending Colorado Springs Art Academy, she met her husband of 68 years, Douglas McClellan (died 2016). Marge and Douglas were both artists and shared a common love for all forms of creativity. For 43 years they lived in an 1800's farmhouse. Marge was a tireless gardener, a passionate observer of nature, clouds and birds. She was also an inspired cook, printmaker and bocce ball player. She delighted in travel and visited Europe, Greece, Turkey and Mexico documenting her travels in innumerable sketch-diaries. During her time in Santa Cruz She was an early member of the UCSC friends of farm and garden. She will be remembered for her zany wit and love of family and celebrations. She is survived by her two sons, Dave (Pam) Of Felton and Wally (Carol) of Oakland. And grandchildren, Guy, Albuquerque NM and Mavis and Henry, Oakland CA. No services are planned. Donations can be made to Hospice Santa Cruz. The family wishes to thank the caring and compassionate staff of Valley Haven care facility.
