Obituary of Michael Kenneth More

Michael Kenneth “Mike” More, beloved partner of Karin Resh for 29 years, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2018 at age 59. Born January 12, 1959 to Margaret “Peg” Kenealey More and the late Sherman Raymond More in San Jose, CA, the first of six children.  His growing up years were spent in Campbell and the Santa Cruz Mtns. He attended Coventry, Castro Middle, Lakeside and Los Gatos High School.

Mike learned his trade, cement mason, as a teenager from his father and ran his own company, More Custom Concrete, for 30 years. He considered his concrete work creations of art, finely done putting all his heart and soul into every project. The last few years he was employed by First Alarm Security in Santa Cruz.

For Mike, spending time at home tending to their animals and property with Karin, the love of his life, were Mike’s happiest days.  He loved bicycling all around Santa Cruz, the mountains or Santa Clara County visiting family, old friends, and making new ones was an awesome day. A stranger was a person he hadn’t met yet! When he wasn’t on his bicycle, you’d find him listening to and singing classic rock music or enjoying his turn at Karaoke and going to concerts.

He is survived by his Beloved, Karin Resh, Mother, Margaret “Peg” Duffy, Sisters, Monica Sautter, Brigid Burris, Mary Ann Elliott and Kathleen (KC) More-Johnson, Brother, Patrick More, Step-Sisters, Anna Duffy and Mary Clabaugh, Step-brother, Timothy Duffy, 1 Aunt, 1 Uncle, 11 nieces,8 nephews and numerous cousins. Mike was preceded in death by his father, Sherman R. More in 2009, his stepfather, Edward J.P. Duffy in 2011 and his Step-Sister Kathleen (Katie) Duffy 2003.

The last few years of Mike’s life were challenged with on-going health issues preventing him from working at either a job or on their home.  Replacing the leaking roof of their house in Felton was at the top of his list for repairs “as soon as he was well enough”…That day never came. Mike was diagnosed with advanced stage 4 cancer … beyond treatment. His first reaction was how the house repairs were going get done if he was out of the picture. It weighed heavily on him. We promised Mike that family and friends would come together to take care of Karin for him. He passed peacefully knowing he could count on us to follow through.
